Philip Greenspun is a 56-year old computer scientist and entrepreneur. He went to MIT and graduated with a PhD. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. His career is made up of a long list of companies that he helped found and did much of the original coding and software work for. Some of his more successful launches include ICAD, Inc which developed software designed to automate mechanized work, ArsDigita Corporation which developed a framework for internet applications, and photo.net which is an online community based around photography. Many of his organizations were eventually sold for millions of dollars. Now he works as an advisor and corporate board member for various businesses and in education at Harvard. Professionally, much of his focus has been on databases, online communities, and education.

Yet, Philip Greenspun is much more than an entrepreneur, he is also a true renaissance man with several personal interests that he shares with the world. He enjoys photography, aircraft, travel, comedy, and much more. He also acts as an expert witness in relational databases, aviation, and software and focuses on sharing anything and everything he knows with others online. Something to note is his blog which holds tons of posts about a myriad of topics ranging from politics to human rights to recent articles he has read. Many of his posts are related to recent ventures. Currently, he is posting a lot about his recent cruise in the north pacific and about China (due to his recent visit). Something else interesting to note is that he does not always get along with his partners. I found a page detailing his messy legal battle with partners in the ArsDigta Corporation.
