A retired computer scientist, Philip Greenspun was one of the first people to help create online communities. A very famous thing he is known for is the Tenth Rule of Programming. Another thing people recognize him for is that he created photo.net. Photo.net helps people improve there photographic skills via an online community. He put into that online community photos that documented a trip he made from Boston to Alaska. In addition to making online communities, Greenspun was also a commercial pilot. He is still listed as an educator at MIT and as an instructor for the East Coast Aero Club.
