Mathew C. Whitaker is a history professor at Arizona State University who was accused of plagiarism in 2011, had a board of his peers review his work and they ended up letting him keep his position and essentially didn’t punish him at all for any plagiarism that may have occurred. Then in 2014, he published a book which was widely accused of having plagiarism rampant through the pages. He is still not being punished for what many would consider blatant plagiarism. Essentially he has hidden behind his status as a professor and the publication company that stays by his side on this issue to this day.
