Page 50 of the Computing Research Association's 2016 Taulbee Survey lists universities that offer programs in computer science. Searches on the Web with the words "machine learning" and the name of a university might be productive.

The government of the United States sponsors research and education through the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy's National Laboratories. Searches with the keywords "machine learning national science foundation" and "machine learning national laboratory" might be productive.

O'Reilly Media is a prominent publisher of tutorials and references for computer scientists. The company also produces conferences and online courses. See especially the company's Safari service.

The Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the IEEE's Computer Society are professional societies for computer scientists. All offer educational resources, including online courses.

This writing exercise requires more judgment than did last week's exercise. You will again summarize but this time you will also persuade. You might find it helpful to think of yourself as a consultant to a busy executive officer. Your client is paying you to produce advice on which he can act. He values clarity and conciseness. He wants to know costs. He wants to know in which order he should take the steps that you are recommending.

Write about 1024 words (2 to 4 pages).
