This course is an introduction to methods of measurement and evaluation in health, physical education, and sports as applied to school-aged children. Various assessment tools and protocols in psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains will be introduced. Basic statistics, use of a computer for data organization and analysis, and adaptation of various tools and protocols for individuals with disabilities are presented. Emphasis is placed on connecting theory and practice in assessing health-related physical fitness (aerobic capacity, musculoskeletal strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition), psychomotor skills (agility, balance, coordination, power, speed, and reaction time), chosen sport-specific skills, and knowledge tests. Clinical experiences will include data collection, statistical analysis, and use of obtained results to develop individual and program goals.
