I've heard often that the people most vulnerable to COVID-19 are children and elderly people. Assuming this is true, what is the next most susceptible group of people?
Actually, children seem to have very little to no symptoms of COVID-19; some children can be infected by the virus but are asymptomatic. the science is still out on why this is. It may be related to the higher overall incidence of coronavirus infections that occur in children. Older people, above the age of 60 seem to be very susceptible and have the greatest constellation of symptoms and are therefore at much greater risk. In addition, older people have many more comorbidities or other problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease which makes them more vulnerable.
People your age tend to deal with COVID-19 much better than older individuals but can still become very sick. There is an idea that maybe people in the 20-30 age range should get the virus so they can develop antibodies but older people should be separated from them. This is how herd immunity could help with handling the virus. But, real ethical problems here!
