Ridgeway - 4/23

So I have had personal experiences as well as experiences throughout being a firefighter, where someone that was in remission that relapsed into sickness was put on a ventilator, and shortly thereafter, died from pneumonia. I believe something with opening the airway to the surrounding oxygen, and with that getting in the lungs and all has something to do with it? Obviously I am not an expert or know much about it, but could ventilators have something to do with the increase of deaths associated with pneumonia/ SARS-CoV-19?

pneumonia is a build-up of fluids and/or pus in the lungs due to inflammation of the lungs.  The inflammation could come from the immune system attacking a pathogen.  Ventilators allow oxygen exchange to continue in areas of the lungs that can still function.  The studies that are saying that ventilators are killing COVID-19 patients are not necessarily considering that someone has to be really sick to be put on a ventilator.  Did the ventilator kill them or did their disease?
