If a virus transfers from one surface to another, such as copper to plastic, would that change how long the virus is able to live?

The virus cannot transfer from one surface to another without a human picking it up from the first surface and depositing it on the second.  The probability of that happening is almost 0, and the transfer would result in a much lower number of virions on the second.
