Soap and Hand Sanitizer 4/23

This may be a very basic question to ask considering how we talked about why soap is more effective than hand sanitizer. I cannot recall correctly off the top of my head as I have only heard this from other people and not the media (when I look online I cannot find anything about this). I have heard that hand sanitizer actually makes you more vulnerable and susceptible to the Sars-Covid-2. Is there truly a reason why people think this is true or is this just one of those crazy rumors that have no evidence backed behind it?

There are no studies that I am aware of that state that using hand sanitizers are either good or bad for you. They just may not help you.  Hand sanitizers are essential in hospital settings but their utility to the general public is questionable.  There is a thought that use of hand sanitizers may be causing antibiotic resistance but this is also not proven.  Even the name "hand sanitizer" is weird.  You do not want to "sanitize" your hands because you would be getting rid of not only potential disease-causing bacteria but also the commensal, good bacteria that you want on your hands.
