This weekend Puerto Rico, specifically Ponce, was hit by another earthquake. Luckily many people (including my family) were not severely impacted or lost their house. Going into hurricane season I am concerned that when places get destroyed the people on the Island will suffer even more. It has been very difficult with what has been going on since hurricane Maria in 2017 and I fear that if they were to be hot with more earthquakes or even another hurricane, the United States will not provide aid nor will the corrupted government help their people. With COVID-19 on top of all of these natural disasters, I fear that they will duffer a spike of people infected and dying especially since many hospitals in the sur of PR are out of commission.

Any country and people who have had to endure natural disasters are at particular risk for infectious diseases.  In fact, COVID-19 is another natural disaster!  My thoughts go out to you and your family!  I wish them all well and hope that people on the mainland will remember that Puerto Rico is a part of the United States.  I was born in Hawaii when the islands were a territory of the United States and not a state.  Territories are sometimes not extended the same privileges that other members of the states enjoy.
