Why do people believe that natural herbs and drugs will help prevent COVID-19? Along with other diseases and sicknesses. I had a cousin who had strep throat and treated it with garlic (she is a believer is non medicine/no-vaccines which I think is crazy). I do not think it really worked....

There is a general distrust of "drugs" and the medical establishment.  People turn to things that they consider "natural".  However, please realize that the most poisonous substances on Earth are made "naturally".  Poison is not manufactured in a chemical laboratory.  Quite the opposite is true.  Drugs are often times based on taking a "natural substance" that is highly poisonous and manipulating it to decrease the capacity to cause harm.  In addition, "natural herbs and drugs" are unregulated.  Most will do you no harm but this is not known because these substances have not undergone scrupulous testing to be sure that they are safe.  These natural agents usually do not work anyway and any positive result is a placebo effect.  Garlic will do nothing but give you bad breath, but is really great at enhancing flavor in foods.
