We talked about how big pharm companies stop looking for treatments after a certain point. Do you think it would be beneficial to keep looking for treatments or should they switch their efforts for the next medical “problem(s)”?

Drug companies have limited resources, just like every other business.  Drug companies answer to their stockholders and have to weigh where to put their funds.  It is not surprising that when an emergent situation is no longer an emergency, focus shifts elsewhere.  You can never go back and predict that something will be needed.  Difficult decisions.
