Comparing different pendemics

There have been also of these different pandemics at have come in the world and have changed our very lively hoods. From pandemics that were centuries ago to more recent pandemics. Something I would like to look at would be the month by month data for those different pandemics like we talked about today and compare them to that of the Coronavirus. So my question is this. We know that the Coronavirus is kind of like a flu, do you think it is similar to others or is this something that is completely different? Do you think that it will have same results to that of other pandemics that have happened?

Nice question.  The true answer is, no one knows.  This virus is similar to the virus that caused SARS but also very different.  We are just beginning to realize how different.  We, meaning scientists, cannot predict how this virus will continue to spread and what about this virus is different or unique.  We know so much about this virus in such a short period of time.  Should we look back to history to determine how to deal with this virus.  YES!  But history can be interpreted many ways.  We will talk about some of this in this course.
